About

Julia Isídrez

Julia Isídrez is a Paraguayan artist born on 16 February 1967 into a family of family of craftswomen who have perpetuated pre-Columbian ceramic techniques from generation to generation.

Accompanying her mother, Juana Marta Rodas (1925-2013), from a young age, she witnessed her mother's artistic awakening while absorbing the traditional skills which became the means of expressing her own talent.

From adolescence, she distinguished herself with her own works while working closely with her mother.
Together, they exhibited in Paraguay and abroad, receiving numerous awards.
She lives in the family home transformed into the Casa Museo Juan Marta Rodas-Julia Isídrez in the city of Itá, Caaguazú, where she dedicates herself to creating her artworks and teaching the inherited knowledge through workshops.

Responding to the creative gift she possesses, she gives shape and life to clay. Over time, the zoophormes or animals of the “World of Julia” have become known for their original shapes, the quality of finishes, and the purity of processes.

Since early 2024, she has been working on the construction of a cultural centre near her home where she want to pass on the skills she has inherited in better than she has today.
